Black History

Everyday calls for a celebration of Black History

Black history is not only shackles and chains

Black history is not only cotton and fields

Black history is not the weakness others may claim

Black is history is more than persevering through pain,

Remember Dr.Gladys West when you use a GPS

When you need to fight for your freedom

Remember any of the wise words from Malcom X

As you listen to Rap, Jazz, Hip-Hop, R&B

Remember who did it first and who does it best,

In this universe we need to celebrate our history

Not only for a day, week, or month

But for more than an eternity

I will celebrate with the loudest voice

And no one will be able to silence me,

Hopefully this poem has inspired you

I hope you learn about every single root

I hope you do what you need to do

I hope you remember that your melanin is beautiful.
