Need a Weekend Getaway from the Mount? Here's some ideas
By Kiara Young
WEEKENDS at the Mount can feel slow, especially for students who live on campus and stay in their dorms. It is easy to feel bored when the campus gets quiet, but the good news is that we live close to many fun places that can make your weekend feel more exciting.
With a little planning, you can enjoy a simple getaway that helps you relax and explore something new.
One of the best places to visit is the Getty Museum. It is very close to campus, and it offers
beautiful views, peaceful gardens, and interesting art exhibits. The museum is a great place to walk around and enjoy the scenery, and it is also perfect for taking Instagram photos. You can spend a few hours there and feel like you took a real break from campus life.

If you do not have a car, you still have great options. The Hammer Museum in Westwood is free, easy to reach, and very popular with students. You can take the shuttle to Westwood and walk from the stop to the Hammer museum. The museum has modern art and a calm environment that makes it a nice place to visit on a weekend afternoon. It is simple, accessible, and a good way to get off campus without spending money.
Another fun spot is Santa Monica Beach and the pier. We live close to the beach, so it is easy to go during the daytime and enjoy the sun. You can tan, walk along the pier, take pictures, and enjoy the ocean breeze. It is a great place to relax and spend time with friends, and it always feels refreshing to be near the water.
Sawtelle is also a favorite place for many students. This neighborhood has a lot of boba shops, many Asian restaurants, and even a Pokémon card shop that people love to visit. It is a lively street with plenty of food and fun places to explore, and it is perfect for a casual weekend outing.
Living at the Mount does not mean your weekends have to feel boring. These places are close, easy to visit, and full of things to do. With a short trip and a little planning, you can make your weekend feel more enjoyable and discover new spots around Los Angeles.
